Black Bear Wall Art

This picture was taken with a trail camera, which allowed the bear to behave completely natural. Bears like to cross over logs, to get through the woods easier. A trail camera is motion activated so the bear didn’t smell any human presence.

How this black bear wall art came about

My family and I have been living in the Rocky Mountains for several years, but although we heard many stories about bears, we had never seen one. A farmer told us about a huge bear that ate one of his calves. We also found bear scat on our own ranch, and some tracks. A neighbor however lives on top of one of the mountains in our area and he started telling us crazy stories of a bear wrecking his outdoor fridge and drinking his beer. We decided to go check it out and indeed, we saw the destroyed fridge and trampled beer cans all over the ground

Taking the picture with a trail camera

I asked our neighbor to help me take a picture of this black bear and he took me down the mountainside to a small creek. He had been panning for gold, and noticed a lot of bear tracks in that area. Setting up my camera was easy and now we just had to wait. Two weeks later the mountain man came to our house, in great excitement. He had seen the bear again and was pretty sure we had some pictures of him. He was right. Ignorant of the presence of the hidden game camera, the bear had been posing beautiful right in front of it. The result is this stunning photograph of a black bear, displaying his natural behavior.
